Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween!  This season we had so much fun decorating our house over and over again.  I was a creepy clown and my brother was a ninja warrior.  We went trunk or treating at school a few days before Halloween and we had a Fall Party at school on Halloween day.  On Halloween night we went trick or treating around our neighborhood.  We got so much candy.  Our house was decorated so scary that many kids did not want to come to our door.  Even though we enjoy going out for candy, we have more fun staying in and giving out candy.  It was a very fun month but it went by too quickly.

Great Wolf Lodge

Since we had a minimum day on Wednesday and no school on Thursday due to teacher in service, Mommy and Daddy surprised us with a last minute mini vacation. We went to the Great Wolf Lodge in Garden Grove.  It is a cool, kid hotel with an indoor water park.  We had a blast!  First off, we love staying in hotels so that alone was exciting.  The indoor water park was the icing on the cake.  We went on all the rides.  I was only too short to go on one ride called the Howlin' Tornado, so while Daddy and Palmer on it, Mommy and I went on the River Canyon Run together.  Most water slides could go as doubles or singles and the River Canyon Run was the family raft ride.  There were 4 slides that you went on a mat, head first and there was a fun drop at the end.  We parkoured on the lily pad and the wood blocks.  We surfed on the Flow Rider, body surfed in the wave pool, and floated on the lazy river.  We had such a fun time and we hope to go back again soon.

Apple Picking at Riley's Farm

We went apple picking today at Riley's Farm in Oak Glen.  It was a beautiful, cool. yet sunny, pre-fall day.  We got to pick in different orchards that grew different types of apples.  We chose to pick Snow Crisp apples and Senshu apples.  Riley's specializes in heirloom apples that are old in history and cannot be bought in your regular grocery store.  It was still a little early in the season so many apples were more on the tart side rather than sweet.  It was still fun to taste test different varieties and then get to roam the orchards and pick what we want.

After our time at Riley's Farm, we went down the road to Snow-Line Orchard and got to sample their different varieties.  They had over 10 varieties to try - some sweet and some very tart.  We also got o eat their famous Mini Cider Donuts....YUM!  I could have eaten those donuts all day long.  It was a great family day and I do more family events like this one.

Soccer Summer Season

Palmer has been playing soccer now and is in his 2nd season and since Daddy was the coach, they let me join the team halfway through the season.  It is so much fun to play with the team and even better with my brother.  One game, we both scored goals.  I learned some soccer skills, the importance of perseverance, sportsmanship, and team spirit.  I just may join my own team one day.

1st day of School - Kindergarten 2017 - 2018

Today was the first day of school at Melinda Heights Elementary.  I'm officially a Mountain Lion.  My teacher's name is Mrs. Moore and I really like her.  She was my brother's teacher when he was in Kindergarten too, so Mommy and Daddy are happy as well.  It is going to be a great year!

Healthy, Happy Lifestyle

So much changed this summer in our house.  Mommy and Daddy realized that we all need to eat healthy and live a healthier lifestyle.  Mommy started making as much food from scratch as she can.  We eat fresh baked bread, fresh baked cookies, fresh baked crackers, homemade tortillas, and she makes her own almond milk and oat milk.  Anything we want to buy at a store that is not a fruit or a vegetable, she makes herself.  She says she was tired of all the chemicals in our food and she wanted to ensure that we have as much whole food ingredients as possible.  Everything is whole wheat and whole grain.  I mostly like everything she is making.  Well, they took it a step further and now our entire diet is mostly plant based.  No more meat, no more dairy, except the fresh eggs we buy from a lady in our neighborhood that raises her own organic, non GMO fed chickens.  We started our own vegetable garden too.  I helped Mommy and Daddy do all the planting.  I even have a daily job....I go out every morning and check the plants for bugs.  We have planted cucumbers, red and yellow peppers, mint, sweet and thai basil, zucchini, radishes, carrots, onions, chives, and red and yellow tomatoes.  At first I was not happy that our diet would be mostly fruits and vegetables, but I am getting use to the idea and I really like that we are sparing precious animals lives, while encouraging good health for our family.

Summer Bowling

We want to soak in every last minute of summer so today we went bowling.  Daddy killed it, but I was in 2nd until the very end when Palmer creeped in and quickly beat me.  Mommy was dead last.  Bowling is fun!
